Southampton Returns to the Premier League After a Season in the Premiership
Southampton secured their return to the Premier League after defeating Leeds United 1-0 in the promotion playoff final on Sunday, following a season spent in the second division.
Southampton’s player Adam Armstrong scored in the first half, leading his team to victory over Leeds, who struggled to make a comeback. Substitute Daniel James was denied a goal in the second half by the crossbar.
With this victory, Southampton joins Leicester City and Ipswich Town in the Premier League next season.
Ipswich Town returns to the top flight after a 22-year absence, while Leicester is back in the Premier League after spending one season in the second division.
