Spanish and international media reports have indicated that Hansi Flick, the former head coach of Bayern Munich and the German national football team, has once again become a strong candidate to coach FC Barcelona.

Currently, Xavi Hernandez is the head coach of Barcelona. He initially announced in January that he would leave at the end of the season but reversed his decision in mid-April, agreeing to stay until 2025. Despite this, reports suggest he faces the risk of being dismissed due to his comments about the club’s difficult financial situation and the team’s inability to compete, which angered the club president, Joan Laporta.

Reports indicate that Hansi Flick, 59, has been a strong candidate from the beginning and has recently been linked with a return to Bayern Munich and a potential role at Chelsea. However, it is rumored that he rejected the English offer because coaching Barcelona is his priority.

According to “El Mundo Deportivo,” Flick has had talks with Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, and he is considered the preferred candidate.

Flick became the head coach of Bayern Munich in the fall of 2019, initially on a temporary basis. He led the team to win seven titles: two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, the DFL-Supercup, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The team’s journey to winning the Champions League included an 8-2 victory over Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Flick took over the German national team after Joachim Löw in 2021 but did not succeed with the team, exiting the 2022 World Cup in the group stage. Flick had to leave his role as head coach in the fall of last year after a series of poor results.
