Martial bids an emotional farewell to Manchester United
The French international Anthony Martial bid farewell to his team, Manchester United, after confirming his departure from Old Trafford following nine years with the English club.
Martial, 28, joined Manchester United in September 2015 from Monaco for £36 million but has not played in any matches since last December after undergoing thigh surgery, making his departure from the team anticipated.
Martial wrote on his Instagram account on Monday evening: “With great emotions, I write to bid you farewell. After nine incredible years at the club, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career.
He added: “Since my arrival in 2015, I have been greatly honored to wear this shirt and play in front of you, the best fans in the world. You welcomed me incredibly, through both good times and tough ones. Your passion and loyalty have been a constant source of enthusiasm for me.
He affirmed: “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me, your songs, your support, and your love for the club. The memories will always remain in my heart. I would like to express my gratitude to all my teammates, members of the coaching staff, and all the club members I have met during my nine years here. I am proud to have shared these experiences with you. Manchester United will always remain in my heart.”
