Not all of Real Madrid’s legends received the farewell they deserved, even though in recent years the club has bid farewell to some stars in a remarkable manner. The most recent example is the German star Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement following the upcoming European Championship.

Iker Casillas
Arguably the best goalkeeper in Real Madrid’s history, with 3 Champions League titles, 5 La Liga titles, and 2 Copa del Rey titles, in addition to winning the World Cup and two European Championships with the Spanish national team. However, the club did not bid him farewell in a fitting manner. Casillas admitted in statements that “it was a mistake to hold a press conference alone.”

Fernando Redondo
In the 2000 elections, Lorenzo Sanz and Florentino Pérez competed for the presidency of Real Madrid. Redondo decided to support Sanz, and after Pérez won, the Argentine player was sent to AC Milan without a proper farewell.

Raúl González
Raúl left the club in 2010 for German side Schalke. Real Madrid initially announced that they would bid him farewell in a press conference, but the fans later pressured the club to give the top scorer a proper send-off. They came to the Santiago Bernabéu to see their famous number “7” one last time, prompting the club to open the stadium doors for the event.

Ronaldo (Brazilian)
Ronaldo left Real Madrid in the winter transfer window of 2007. His persistent injuries hindered his career at the club, and he did not receive a farewell. The club had begun relying on Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy to fill the goal-scoring role that Ronaldo once enjoyed.

Guti
In 2010, Guti announced that he would not renew his contract, which ended at the conclusion of the season. He left for Beşiktaş on a free transfer without receiving a formal farewell from Real Madrid.

Luis Figo
The first of the “Galacticos” to arrive and the first to leave as well. He transferred to Inter Milan during Real Madrid’s preseason preparations for the 2009-2010 season without a proper farewell from the club.

Di Stéfano
