Chelsea in advanced talks with Italian Maresca
Reports mentioned on Monday that Chelsea has entered advanced talks with Italian Enzo Maresca, the Leicester City manager, to take over the position of head coach at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca was the assistant to Spanish Pep Guardiola, the head coach of Manchester City, until last summer before he brought Leicester City back to the Premier League just 12 months after their relegation.
It appears that Chelsea’s management has found their ideal replacement in Maresca to succeed Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino, who left his position a few days ago.
According to the British news agency (PA Media), Chelsea has requested permission to negotiate with Maresca, with expectations that Leicester City will demand financial compensation of 10 million pounds (12.7 million dollars) to release their Italian coach.
The list of candidates to succeed Pochettino in coaching Chelsea includes Brentford manager Thomas Frank and Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, who promoted the team to the Premier League.
