After Kroos’s Decision to Retire… What Did Real Madrid Players and Officials Do?
Media reports have revealed that players and officials of Spanish club Real Madrid tried to persuade Toni Kroos to reverse his decision to retire at the end of the current season.
This week will undoubtedly be dedicated to both “mourning and celebrating” the departure of 34-year-old Kroos.
According to “Football España,” tickets for Kroos’s final match at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Betis have sold out, indicating the high regard in which he is held. His teammates at the Royal Club attempted to change his mind about retirement, a fact acknowledged by Dani Carvajal.
Carvajal stated, “We tried. We tried. But it’s complicated. On Monday, we already knew he wouldn’t continue. We didn’t know he would issue the statement on Tuesday. We know his mentality and how firm he is in his decisions.”
He continued: “We are sad that we can only enjoy two more games with him at Real Madrid. We respect his decision.”
The team’s defender added: “In the end, he chooses how, when, and where, and we have to support him and be happy for him. On Saturday, in our stadium, we will throw a great celebration for him because he deserves it.”
According to “Football España,” it is unlikely that Kroos will change his decision.
